Lambert to be fully operational by midweek

NEW YORK (AP) -- Flights partially resumed out of Lambert Airport Sunday after the area's most powerful tornado in decades ripped off part of the roof and shattered hundreds of windows at the main terminal.

The airport expects all 256 daily departures to be back on schedule by the middle of the week. About 60 percent of the daily departures were slated to take off on Easter Sunday, as area residents were still sorting through the debris and rubble.

Airlines said the impact on other hubs was minimal due to the limited number of flights out of Lambert.

Cubs and Padres split doubleheader

CHICAGO (AP) -- Reed Johnson knows that when given the chance, he needs to come through.

The reserve Cubs outfielder was near perfect at the plate on Wednesday as the Cubs split a day-night doubleheader with the Padres.

Johnson first slammed a game-winning home run in game one for a 2-1 victory. He then went went 3-for-4 in game two at Wrigley Field as the Cubs closed the series with two wins in three games.

"In a situation I've been in the last couple of years of my career it's easy to lay down and stop making those efforts because you're not playing as much," said Johnson, who went 4-for-5 on the day and saw his average jump from .181 to .375.

Court casts doubt on states' global warming suit

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court appeared deeply skeptical Tuesday about allowing states to sue electric utilities to force cuts in greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.

Both conservative and liberal justices questioned whether a federal judge could deal with the complex issue of global warming, a topic they suggested is better left to Congress and the Environmental Protection Agency.

The court heard argument over whether to end the lawsuit by six states, New York City and three conservation groups against four private companies and the federal Tennessee Valley Authority, the five largest emitters of carbon dioxide in the United States.

Drugmaker Eli Lilly's 1Q profit falls 15 percent

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Eli Lilly and Co.'s first-quarter profit fell 15 percent because of severance costs and a development agreement designed to help the drugmaker weather a wave of patent expirations that will start hitting later this year.

The Indianapolis company in the next two years will lose U.S. patents protecting drugs that produced 46 percent of its 2010 revenue. That starts in October, with the patent protecting its top-seller, the antipsychotic Zyprexa, from competition from lower-priced generic versions.
